Description

Each year, the Centre for Teaching Innovation and Excellence offers an intensive three-hour workshop for faculty and post-doctoral fellows designed to support the development of a teaching dossier and philosophy statement.

Why a dossier/portfolio?

As part of the promotion and tenure process, you will be asked to submit a teaching dossier. A dossier and teaching philosophy statement can also be used for applying for teaching awards, critically analyzing and documenting your teaching over time, applying for academic positions, and more.

What is a dossier?

A dossier summarizes major teaching accomplishments and strengths, and provides a selective account of best practices that is evidenced-based (i.e., a dossier is more than just a container to showcase instructional materials). Each dossier is unique, reflecting one's teaching approach and instructional environment, and is dynamic and reflective in its assembly.

Dossier Workshop

In this session, you will learn about and participate in hands-on activities and discussion opportunities designed to support the development (or refinement) of your dossier and philosophy statement. Extensive materials will be provided for use during and after the workshop. Suggestions and resources for how you can extend your teaching dossier to an academic portfolio encompassing of your all your professional commitments will also be provided.

This session is capped at 40 participants, so register early!

Information collected is done so under the authority of the Wilfrid Laurier University Act and will not be shared. It will be used only for administrative purposes associated with this event including but not limited to registration and confirmation of participation.
